Illustrator, InDesign, Sewing
Taking inspiration from Christopher Cooper's book Patently Absurd, a series of architectural and spatial inventions that reside within the world of the inventor Isaac Merritt Singer and artist Do Ho Suh were developed.
Isaac Singer was an inventor and industrialist who is best known for his development of the Singer sewing machine, which revolutionized the clothing industry and had a significant impact on society and the built environment. Do Ho Suh is an artist and architect who is known for his work exploring themes of home, identity, and memory through sculptures, installations, and architectural projects. However, both Singer and Suh have focused on the theme of home and the role that it plays in shaping our identity and memories. Singer's sewing machine played a role in the mass production of clothing, which has had an impact on the way people dress and the design of clothing-related spaces, such as retail stores and dressing rooms. Suh's work often centers on the idea of the home as a place of personal and cultural significance, and he has created architectural projects and installations that explore the concept of home in a variety of contexts.
The project explores the unstable boundaries of space along lines of individuality and immateriality.
